Thanks! I got them to put a 72 hour hold on my reservation when I booked it for the Marriott points to come through. That was set to expire Friday, but with traveling and Shabbos coming, I forgot to call and ask them to extend. By Monday when I had a chance to call back, the price had gone up 50% and the points were still not in my UA account.
I spoke to UA and they were sympathetic but the CSR said there was a note on my account that the hold was a courtesy and I'd been advised there would be no further extensions, so they could not reinstate the itinerary. I asked to speak to a supervisor and calmly explained that I appreciated the hold, and asked them to use their discretion to reinstate the itinerary for another 24-72 hours to wait for the Marriott points. I expressed over and over that of course UA was not to blame, but that I was being as diligent as I could and that I was being held up by Marriott.
In the end, the rep gave me another 48 hours and warned this was my last chance. Luckily the Marriott points came through 6ish hours later and I was able to complete the booking.
