True, I'd just prefer to use 67.5k AA than 80k UR. I'll need to keep extending the hold, so if I can do that or someone gives be free UR I'll just stick with KE.

Also, from pix it looks like the foot well on F is a lot wider than on CX F. Is CX F restrictive down there? I'm comparing it to LH J on the 747-8 which has a really restrictive foot well.
Not at all. It is an amazing bed.

KE F LAX-ICN-HKG (Held, pending CX F availability)

SQ R SIN-NRT-LAX (Booked)

This will be my first time in F! Super excited!

Wow. Heck of a first foray.

But, be warned... flying will never be the same.

Piece of unsolicited advice? Fly economy and forget F.

Make sure to be awake every minute of your flight time. No first class flight feels as good as the first one.
I can never forget my first F flight - even it was just UA F.

CX F is the least restrictive seat/bed in the sky.
Not a big fan of the service, but the hard product is awesome.

Overall I'd take SQ or NH over CX due to excellent hard and soft products.
That's why I booked SQ for the return. I really wanted it for the inbound so I could spend shabbos in HKG, but it didn't work. We'll actually be flying a redeye SIN-NRT in F on a 777-300ER then connecting 11 hours later to R NRT-LAX, so I'll get to try both products.

Wow. Heck of a first foray.

But, be warned... flying will never be the same.

We've been moving up slowly. My first J was UA J.
Next will be AZ J followed by KL J in a few weeks.
We fly Y loads of times for short, under 5-hour flights. Painful, but doable.

In terms of your advice, thanks but no thanks! :D

Make sure to be awake every minute of your flight time. No first class flight feels as good as the first one.

Why stay awake and not take advantage of the bed? You can be guaranteed I'll be asleep on SIN-NRT flight.

I personally would take CX over NH. A lot more space and less claustrophobic.

I didnt find NH claustrophobic at all.
Loved the memory foam mattress pad.

And the service, man oh man. Kills CX.

Are there any good US airline first classes? Doesn't sound like it.

I found the NH service in Y amazing! I flew them in Dec 2011 and, while I'm obviously not talking about the hard Y product, the service in Y was amazing! I got a free model plane, unprompted, a few hours after chatting with a FA about our trip and mentioning it was our honeymoon. I can only imagine what F is like.

Has anyone experienced United First from EWR to LAX? Please don't laugh, but they were the only ones with saver availability on my dates.

It's called First, but on domestic routes it's only 2 cabins, so it's not officially "trying a First class cabin", it's more equivalent to flying J on a UA intl flight that has 3 cabins. But most importantly, you need to check the plane type to know whether it's lie flat or just a regular seat. Click "view seats" to see. If it's lie-flat, then it's a nice flight. Don't expect amazing service, but for someone (like me) who only has flown on UA J, you'll feel like a million bucks. :-)

It's not lie-flat. They never have availability out of JFK, and for some reason, even though Newark is their hub (and has a pretty decent terminal) they fly regular planes. Not like their "Premium Service" is that great either. Just old, squishy planes with a bigger seatback screen and more expensive wifi.

2 flights daily to EWR have lie flat. Just got to be willing to check often and last minute. Or Plan B.

No mystery why JFK and not EWR. JFK<>LAX/SFO get higher yield biz pax than does EWR. Also, JFK<>LAX/SFO has competition.

And I'd disagree. I'm a big fan of UA's P.S. service.

I loved flying their new 737 last June out of EWR. The old PS 757 was not nearly as good.

737 J > 752 J?

In what lifetime?
