That's some serious seaplane fees that you're gonna have to pay...
Would look for closer resorts with lower fees. PH MLE also charges 266/night for having a fourth occupant in the room, in addition to the 520/430 transfer charge: so even using the points/award nights, it's an additional $494 per night on a six night stay. I suspect that there are better deals elsewhere...particularly in low-season, but we digress and should probably continue the conversation in the Maldives thread.

For four pax (two adults; two 2.5 year olds) in May:

JFK-AUH EY 380 J
AUH-MLE EY 320 Y

MLE-AUH 320 Y
AUH-JFK 380 J

Crazy?
What's crazy about that?

And I see you've taken my advice, huh? :)

Not crazy at all! Conrad there allows 4 in their standard award room and if the little ones will be 3 by your arrival date then they can go FREE all day as much as you want to their kids club...sounds awesome to me...maybe try to get enough HHonors points to go there.

You won't get the free kids club access but still won't have the extra room fees.  Those are awesome flights though and you should be able to find some kind of resort that will work and these places do offer babysitter if you want to do an excursion or have a night out.

Yes. No.
He is saying that he booked it. Doesn't AA allow unlimited stops, but must be less than 24h between and cannot exceed 125% MPM?
Looks like it would break MPM, but I haven't checked.
Booked. TLV-AMM-BAH-DOH-DXB-MEL-SYD-CNS x2
In RJ J,
GF J,
QR (domestic) F x2,
QF A380 F,
QF J x2

Total cost 60k AA and $35.40 x2

That's both Al Safwa and the DXB EK F lounge in one day ;D
I haven't been this pumped in months ;D

I didn't check if it breaks MPM x 1.25 beforehand, but I assumed that it wouldn't,  as the origin and destination are really far apart, and the gulf airports are all really close. For example, this past summer I booked PVG-HKG-DOH-KWI-BAH-AUH-AMM on a single AA award, and it was within MPM x 1.25.

I guess it's because you are heading East. So the route is pretty much in that direction anyway.  With TLV and AMM you actually need to head east before heading West.  I tried AMM-CAI-DOH-AUH-JFK and similar options and was told over MPM (two awards). AMM-DOH-AUH-JFK was okay.  But seemed to max out there.  Tacking on TLV to same route was also okay.

MPM is 9,687 (I believe) and routing is 10,248, well within the 25% buffer.

Nice. It's kind of disappointing to know that I could've added over 2k miles in additional routings for the same price :P

Did they only tell you it was over after inputting the entire itinerary, or after you got up to AUH?
