Yes, it was a revenue ticket. Really great (at least seems to me) revenue fares in J out of Cairo to India. Round-trip CAI-DEL (or CAI-MUM) for about $650-$800 depending on carrier, including EY and EK. Even cheaper on some like Oman or Kuwait Air that don't interest me.  Then, with MR and BP, it's half the points back to you.

All flights out of CAI are pretty cheap right now due to currency deval.

I really wanted to experience the EK J skybar, but can't rationalize paying the 82.5K, instead of 50K.

I still have enough AS miles to book the NYC-MLE flight in CX Y or W.

Any reason I should change my mind??

I've flown EK J on the A380.
While having the bar is cool, it's certainly not a reason in and of itself to pay an extra $1000+ value (at 1.6) worth of SPG.

Apparently you're not familiar with the European business class scene, let alone El Al's business class product on European-bound flights. (your post count combined with the reply definitely makes me raise an eyebrow - did you notice this was a J booking?)

Well now I understand.  No secret that the long-haul J/F products are antiquated.

But with regard to short-medium haul flights, El Al J wins nearly every time (excluding flights to London vs. BA).  Don't forget that a great deal of flights are now on brand new 737-900s. Plus ex-TLV gets King David lounge, which makes the decision even more clear cut.

There aren't many reviews/pictures of El Al's European business class, so I'll do my best to take some quality pictures for everyone.  Also will try to snap some good shots of the updated King David lounge.  The outbound is on their new 737-900ER.  Inbound is on the older product, 737-800.
