TBH Not much.

Could take a 4.5 hour layover instead of 9.5 hours, but would lose QSuites from DOH-JNB.
Figured I'd find something to do in DOH to justify the layover + gain a psssport stamp + gain QSuites, but should I switch flights?

No.
The above alone would probably justify it for me. But I would visit the Museum of Islamic Art and Souq Waqif, then head to the lounge.

Have a similar layover on the way to MLE this Monday. Was planning on just spending it in the Al Mourjan Lounge or may pay my way into the Al Safwa for a bed. But keep us posted with any ideas. Would be interested in venturing out of the airport!

Should be plenty of time to make it there, and enjoy a couple of hours at the museum (Entry is free IIRC.) The views over the water are nice. The souk is a short drive from there.

Not sure if still going on with covid but seems like QR offers a tour that takes you to both.

Sounds like a plan. Uber? Taxi?

Reached out to QR to see if they still offer this and they said:
ďUnder the instructions of the Qatar Government, entry into Qatar is currently only allowed for Qatari nationals, the children and spouses of Qatari citizens, permanent resident permit holders and regular resident permit holders, subject to re-entry approval. Thank you.Ē
