אדם מועד לעולם
I once had this argument with a big Talmid Chochom.
It says that when someone goes to sleep near keilim, he is chayiv if he damages them in his sleep, but if the kailim are not near him but are brought later, he's patur. (Bava Kamah, IIRC 3a or 4a)
So what about someone getting drunk? This person wanted to say that if he got drunk (and is therefore not a bar daas), he would be patur if he damages kailim that are not near him. I, however, argued that when a person gets drunk, ALL kailim in the city are considered "etzlo" - near him. Because unlike a sleeping person who lacks mobility, a drunk person is mobile, and even though he's no longer a bar daas, he put himself in that situation where he can damage everything in his city.
