Different than what?
I normally put in meat, potatoes, barley, beans, onion, garlic, paprika, brown sugar and tomato sauce.

Anyone got any more cholent recipes to share? i am looking to make something a bit different then what I usually make. I tried @yungermanchik  recipie a while back but I found that it was a bit too sweet with ketchup and honey in :o

Try the old fashioned way  ;)
Sauteed onion, chicken bottoms, marrow bones, potatoes, beans, very generous paprika, black pepper, and salt.
Preferably, put it in a pot in the oven for a few hours.
Delicious!

It's to taste. I actually started leaving out the ketchup and I put in less honey too then I originally wrote.

Don't knock it 'till you've tried it.
My father flavors the cholent by opening the cabinet, smelling various spices and sauces, then putting in a mix of whatever he feels like that week. Our cholent never came out the same...
