Just because you may be legally justified for pulling out a gun, doesn't mean you need to shoot it.  ???
If you do shoot it, just make you are the last one standing and the other guy isn't around to refute your side of the story.
From my little understanding: You always get prosecuted and the only way to get away with it is by being in grave danger that u had to shoot the guy.

Not threaten because that means u weren't in grave enough danger to pull it out I've read about it in books that describe it in more detail but that's the general idea.
( of course it all boils down to how aggressive the prosecutor/ jury are)

Aren't guns muktza? Of course if you are in a dangerous area or would be sakana but in general......
our rav paskened that a gun isn't a kli shem'lachto lissur since it isn't made to use only to scare the terrorists away, so we had several dozen armed congregants inside plus two armed guards with radios at every entrance this shabbos do to the heightened security in jerusalem

This is why we don't go to rabbonim for military strategy...

IMO that's the only point of a security guard. He's a deterrent meant only to harden the target.
Truth is, if any terrorist or terrorist group truly wanted to carry out an attack, figuring out out to take out the guard or slip past him unnoticed would not be all that difficult. Regardless, we can only rely on Hashem's protection.
