So if both sides represent exactly the same hashkafa, then how does the average balabos in Boro Park choose loyalties? What draws him to one side more than the other if they both have the exact same hashkafa.
It has nothing to do with hashkafa. It's how they view R' MD v R' BZ personally.

Are there any geographic or familial differences btw who follows who?

No. Many families are split in their loyalties.

Sad to hear.
I can assume it's not to the point of a split, where they won't talk to each other, marry into the 'other' side, or a/t that drastic?

That's a relief. We've got enough in-fighting going on as it is...

So there was a drasha by one of the sides last night and what was said and implied with big signs was everything but obeying the psak.
Sad.

Most who were "kind of chassidim" of R' Naftulche even when R' Shlomo was alive- went with his children (Ungar). Also many who learnt in the mesivta and felt connected to Rubin who had a shteller there went to Ungar. However, Bobover chassidim as a whole are passive people, and many, especially the elders felt that they shouldn't pick themselves up from a beis medrash the've been davening in for years. In addition, R' Naftulche wasn't well even when R' Shlomo was living and after R'S died many did not feel any connection with R'N so when R'N died they did not feel the rabbiste should go to his daughters' husband.
As a side note, for a reason I do not know, most of the Halberstam family (aside R'BT) sides along R'MD.

When R' Shloime was alive, people were his chassidim, not "kind of" anyone else's.

As a side note, for a reason I do not know, most of the Halberstam family (aside R'BT) sides along R'MD.

I wouldn't say "most" .

If someone made people think that BD is a joke it's this BD them selves, such a shame that a BD can shlep a din toirah for so many years for no good reason,
It's very sad that this is to what we've come to..

So you just decided to make up things by yourself!? #1 When R'Shlomo was living all Bobov Chassidim where under one Rabbi R'Shlomo! #2 Rubin had no Shteller in Mesivta, Unger was A Magid Shiur! #3 All older people and middle age had a Connection with R'Naftuli they staid in Bobov because it is Bobov! #4 What are you talking about about the Halberstam Family? All R'Shlomos Kids and grandchildren never left Bobov! if there is someone not more then 1-2, of Course besides children of R'Naftula. So please get the facts straight first.

As I said earlier does this psak increase the chances satmar/viznitz go to a DT or decreases? Respect for DT is not just dependent on execution.
Maybe this is a classic case of chicken and egg.

they have rabbunim that will make this decision.

Meanwhile there is already a few big rabbunim who said that they don't need to accept it, but only there rabbunim will make the decision.
May I ask who?

I would assume it was the respective toyanim who were dragging this out with crazy taynos etc (billing by the hour)

Is it just me, or did your quote get messed up somehow?
