Same here. Don't you think it's too much? My wife claims it isn't :'(
A lot depends on 3 factors.
1) Shabbosim - Do you have lots of guests, or are you frequently eating out
2) Fine food - Do you 'need' meat, nice wine, etc?
3) Eating out and takeout - These go without saying.

1) I have guest maybe once in 2-3 months
2) Meat is only for Shabbos and Chag (or some special occasions)
3) Eating out is not in our lifestyle (though we occasionally eat out)
I try my best :-\

Yea, so it seems to be high to me, but then again, I've been in Israel for a while now.

When we were living in the US, fruits were a luxury for us, we'd have apples, oranges, and most other fruit would be for shabbos. Lucky for us, in Israel, fruits/veggies are quite cheap and have become more of a staple in our diet.

Done. Was on mobile so didn't even notice the poll.

I hope people notice the "per person" before voting. I'm having a hard time believing that people have a $1,000+ budget per person.
I only noticed it after I voted. :(
My real amount is: 3 ppl, approximately $500/mo. total
Home for Shabbos most weeks, takeout maybe twice a month.

Some stuff is (frozen, packaged, dairy, American brands), and others aren't, such as most fruit, veggies, and perhaps chicken. Although, w/ the chicken/meat, a lot of it depends on the hechsher.

About once or twice a week together. We all have different schedules so just about every day of the week someone is grabbing fast food.

$800-$1000 for 3.5 (I count my youngest daughter as half bc she doesn't eat much real food yet but we still need to buy baby food for her). It really depends on how many shabbosim we are home and if we have guests. A shah is without guests can cost as low as $80 while with as few as 2 guests it costs closer to $200.

$1200 for family of 3 acc to mint. But #3 doesn't add to the food expenses yet. ~$200 are reimbursable from work.
