Do you tip movers? How much?

For a six hour job I tipped $20 a guy. (I told them the whole that if there done by 5:00 I make them happy. Saved me paying the moving company for another 1/2 hr.)

Yes, especially if they're moving fragile furniture that you don't want damaged. I promised my movers that I'll take care of them if my furniture is undamaged. You should have seen how careful they were with my dresser.

It was a complicated cheshbon. But iirc it was around $50 each.

Not sure that's the best idea. It all depends on what's more important to you, the money you save from a quicker job or the condition of your furniture. If the movers feel that they need to move quickly they won't treat your stuff carefully.
Another  idea might be to hire them through their company for the minimum amount of time. And when that time is up make your own arrangement with the workers.

Move: downstairs into two bedroom. Second year associates need two bedrooms.

Estimate: 906 plus 200 if I want them to pay for damages. Estimate includes packing.

Henche's idiocy:  the estimate said 175 an hour for three people times 4.75 hours. Henche thought that was per person, and so was 525 an hour for all three. (Thinking the plan to be here for 1.6 hours).  Henche started packing like mad figuring he could make it go faster.

Actual time: 1.25 hours.

So total was 515 and henche's idiocy saved him 400 bucks.

But!

The idiots forgot to ask if I wanted to pay the 200 for them to have liability before the move. So I decided I'd buy it if they broke anything! So saved 200 there.
