Bringing ice through airport security
« on: August 25, 2014, 05:21:27 PM »
I was thinking, the TSA prohibits liquids in quantities of more than 100ml from going through security. But what about liquids frozen solid?

Turns out that someone already thought of this and wrote about it here

It makes perfect sense. Ice is a solid.
It is such a pain when they throw away your drinks at security. Simple solution apparently is to freeze them and keep them well insulated until after security. I will be trying this on our next US flight which is in a couple of weeks.

Regarding quick search (which I did do before posting), can you recommend the keywords you used to find thread(s) you are referring to?

according to the tsa blog the tsa allows frozen solid that goes through x-ray as the liquid explosives can't be frozen solid...but even on the tsa blog they say it still can be a YMMV situation
