To answer my own question, I found that it didnt qualify for the ShopSmall promos (free $10 etc) in the past, so I assume it won't work for this.

I purchased tickets to Israel with my platinum (personal) card and leaving in a couple weeks. The AF window in in a couple days and I want to cancel the card. Does anyone know whether i will still have the travel protection and does it make a difference whether I cancel or downgrade?

Any insurances are only active if you are a cardholder in good standing at the time of the claim. SO you would not be covered if you are not a cardholder if you needed the insurance.

Got it. I thought i remember that as long as the card is active it would work and that downgrading is considered active.

Actually, I filed a baggage claim on a card that had since been downgraded and received the amount they give for platinum cardholders, though I did have to call in and let them know that at the time I purchased the airfare I had been a platinum member.

I thought it mght be because I recently opened a few AU green cards to use for tsa pre for some friends. I told her that I was busy but i could speak next week. Is this something to be worried about? if yes, what shou'd i tell her?

I dont know if the call is going to be so easy, you have 15 employees and all they do is charge Tsa pre.

I currently  Have the American Express gold card.
I have an upgrad offer for 100k, am I better off using Dan's link to apply for it and close my gold card? Or is it better if I just upgrade my gold card to the platinum card with a 100 K bonus offer? Without the need to close any card?
 What's your guys take?

 Not sure why I held the gold card for 7 years. It literally is a waste of $250. Not much perks.
