NLL = No Lifetime Language

Translation: Most amex sign up bonuses are only available to customers that have never received a bonus for that card before...so NLL offers are desirable since they bypass this restriction.

Bonus Note: "Liftetime" at amex doesn't actually mean lifetime...DP's indicate the timeline is around 5-7 years or so

Lower recently, more like 4 years. So basically the same as Chase Sapphires.

I just got approved for 250,000 Bonus by calling Amex and them emailing me link. Did anyone else do this? Didnt see it mentioned much here.

It was on DOC. There was a high spend requirement, right?

Update: Process was super simple. Used Google flights and selected Elal as only airline to find price on a date that matches. 1 minute after Amex booking I was able to cancel and request a refund on Elal.com. Now I wait for the voucher…

Yes haven’t seen better. Most I’ve seen was 160,000.

I’ve been sent mailers before but never kept any of them. When I called in to apply the first offer was 250k for 30k spend in 6 months or 170k for 15k spend. Borge with 10k extra for AU

Thats weird I booked ELAl flight on amex travel using my business platinum cc but did not get the 5X points for flight purchases and in addtion it is not giving the 1:1 redemption value when I to try cover the charge with amex points?

I have a chat transcript where agent assures me mutiple times that for flights covering the charge would be a 1:1 ratio.

Here is what I learned from chatting and speaking with amex agents because I was not aware of the different flavors and nuances of booking flights on amextravel.  This is not addressing the 35% bonus benefit because it is not always available on international airlines (However as Dan pointed out there is a workaround).

Hopefuly this is accurate info:

1.  If you use amex points to directly book travel on amextravel you wil generally get a 1:1 ratio redemption value or better sometimes.
2.  If you use you cc to pay for the flight on Amextravel you will get 5X points per dollar spent.
3   You can also choose to cover the posted charge(that you paid with your CC) with amex points at a 1:1 ratio; however it appears you have to call and have them apply/adjust it manually.  The agent claims that when you do that you lose the 5X bonus.

Already met spent threshold. 130K points received.

Anyway to request 250K points offer be extended?
Or at least give me the chance to earn additional 120K points.
Why should I be penalized for jumping at an earlier offer?

Not gonna happen.

You can ask that question about any offer “for new cardholders only”.
