Is it for sure that your 60 day timer starts from the date when the annual fee hits, and not the day you applied for the card?

it says platinum offers Gold Preferred Membership with SPG, is that something i would get with the Amex SPG Card or is that a special benefit?

You are going to be very please with what you find on this forum if you currently think a) the 50k MR points are worth $500 in GC, b) you won't have more (monetary) value out of the Plat card, c) and will be paying $450 for having this card....

you should search and do a whole lot of reading...
but here is a more clear version;
a) 50k points are worth alot closer to $750 if you sell them to a point broker
b) you can get up to $200 in gc's towards one airline each calender year
c) if you cancel your plat within 60 days of when the annual fee hits you will almost certainly be refunded the entire $450

therfore if you play your cards right this card is worth roughly $950, not $50!
