applied for amex MB platinum, ,
I call everyday and get India reps -- they read from the script -- "special department still working on application need time to review - annalist not assigned yet" -- - I am with amex a long time! got many ,many cards , never took more than 1-2 day to be approved --- anyone else have this kind of wait

Your right , just a little frustrating as i need to cncl a plat biz b4 60day fee is due and now I think timing will not work -- since I am in Europe, I needed a u s address to apply T/4 used one --- amex has a policy for new cards ,must wait 10 days b4 they will resend a 2nd card out of the states , very hard to get them to break it --but! like u said nothing I can do about it

Next time cancel via SM. No need to deal with supervisors. No idea about AF. I canceled about 80 days after opening, but within 60 days of posting fee and got full AF refunded (along with some airline credit).

I did also get snail mails from AmEx saying that I was going to get a check for the credit, but that they would further investigate to make sure there wasn't any accounting issues. A little worrisome since the airline credit was via PGGM. Hopefully that's just standard speak and nothing to worry about.

+1 and nothing to worry about but next time spend it on AP and you don't need a check!

Why waist the $450 on AP when you can use a diff't card for it toward spend bonus. They SM me the same thing about investigating, but I always get the check 3-4 days later.

What's the average amount of time it should take from when the 450 credit appears on my account until they cut me a check? In the sm to close I wrote that I wanted a check, however all I see is the credit on my account.

Just an interesting thing I have noticed, when you ask via SM it takes longer to receive the check than over the phone.

for someone with a young credit history but has a high credit score, after having just the saphire card i opened a platinum amex, it's now time to either cancel it or downgrade before i get hit with annual fee, in this situation is it better to cancel or downgrade or no difference? my question is will it impact my credit score if i cancel?

No difference. Charge cards have no CL.

While technically true, the highest balance one has amassed during the life of the card is the amount reported to CRAs as "credit limit."
