I got my points and 200 credit, so I was planing on canceling the card (get a prorated refund) and trying again in 12 - 18 months if the deal comes back. Good idea? Bad idea?

I recently got the Plat, and I'm unsure of how to enjoy all the benefits that I see posted on DD.
-Killer app: Platinum card lounge access, Priority Pass lounge access, Global Entry Fee Waiver

In another post he writes that I get 1 year SPG gold, but it's not showing up in my SPG account. What do I do for that?

you should get an email from Amex with a # to call to get gold. Ill look it up

You need to PUTPAC Amex and they'll conference you with SPG.

they have told me that before and I HUCAd  and have had success. Doesn't hurt to try.

Can someone clarify for me - what is the problem with just closing an AMEX Plat after getting the points - since it's a charge card it doesn't affect the credit availability.

Second of all - could someone add to the wiki how long to wait before applying for another card.
