Could be.  I signed up however because I was targeted, which got me into this whole game again (6 apps in last 2 months.)  Also, I churned a Plat about 2 years ago for 100k.  Doesn't that disqualify me from public Plat signup bonuses due to the new rule?
wow! This is a interesting data point.

officially the new amax terms are that you are only eligible for a bonus once per lifetime...
So I guess with an invitation it's an exception?

In my case it would seem so. I does make sense,  being that they invite you under those terms.  I can't imagine this hasn't already been discussed somewhere on DDF.

June 20th:  Activate targeted Plat 40k
June 25th:  Meet and exceed spend
June 30th  Pay $2000 before statement close
July 1st   8) 8) 40k post     8) 8)

Now I need to decide whether or not to keep the card.  Any way to get the $450 AF waived or reduced?  Any ideas on how to make it worth $450 to keep?

The $450 is prorated. So depending on when you cancel it, you will get money back.

I am aware of that.  I'm really just wondering if there are ways to make the card pay for itself?

I've read and understood the wiki.  Please explain 1/yr over two yrs etc.  I understand I can do it now and again in Jan for $400. that plus GE should hit or get close to $450.  Being that i opened the card in June '14, June 15 I get charged AF and I can't do PGGM till Jan. So for the 2nd year I only recover $200, and am down $250.  Is that what you meant?

Being that GE Status is maintained for 5 years, i assume Amex only credits it once every five years. I may be mistaken.

I live outside the US and my wife is not a citizen, so it's not relevant to me. But I imagine you buy GE credits here:

Or you could buy one from me :)

If you haven't had it before, yes. Probably keep it intot he second year to get the next $200 in credits and then cancel.
