I would imagine this has been talked about but I couldn't find it.

If I add on a AU for $175 (to get priority pass and global entry) and cancel within 30 days and get back the $175 AF will I be risking getting a FR

No. You have 60 days. When you cancel the card your lose priority pass.

I believe it's one per card lifetime not per year

RE: Global Entry

Last year, I took advantage of the Global Entry reimbursement.
If I wanted to use my card for a child of mine, who does not have a platinum card, would I get reimbursed in this new calendar year for my child (age 20).
https://www.americanexpress.com/us/credit-cards/benefits/detail/global-entry/platinum#detail
Once every 5 years. Addl plat cards get it too

Just add a plat AU and downgrade it after the credit posts.

Posting for a friend...

My friend has the delta amex platinum card that just charged her $150 annual fee.  She called to cancel the card and they offered her either $100 off her annual fee (leaving her with $50 to pay) or 12,000 delta miles.  Keeping the card would also give her a free companion domestic ticket.
She has about 79,900 delta miles now.

Her options as we see them are...
1. cancel the card anyway (and spend $100 before she does to round off the number to 80,000 points.
2. pay $50 annual fee
3. accept 12,000 miles and pay $150

Any sage advice?

Thanks so much!

The card gives travel advantages, and she's soon to get a companion certificate.  So there' a benefit to keeping the card.
So #1 may not be the best choice.
#2 - keep and get $100 off the AF.
#3 - How much are 12,000 miles worth?  If each point is worth $.01  then it's worth $120.  Is it likely she will fly Delta this year?  Then this card and these points are worth having.

If I return a purchase does it count towards the threshold?

Well if you get credit before the closing day that you were supposed to spend for threshold, then NO.

You have to spend an X amount to get the bonus so if you get any credit you still have to reach the Threshold.
Global Entry Is the same you pay $100 and you get credited back $100.

Yes. Just ignore the line that says "if you ever had this card before". It clearly means showing other than the what if it's clearly saying

Return it to another card, amex or otherwise. A return that was not made in the card definitely counts as a payment. In not so sure dav is right even in returns on the same card.

If you ask that question it is quite obvious you are not familiar with the benefits of this card or the fact that you can get the fee refunded by canceling within 60 days.

None of the benefits are of use to me. Also I probably won't be able to spend the 10K in the first billing cycle so that the points post in time to cancel within 60 days.

A charge card will not really affect you as it doesn't have a real CL.

And its a Biz so its not even on your credit report. but if you want to downgrade to green go ahead.
