Nobody ever cancelled an AU and got fee refunded?
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

If you just have blue cash and blue cash preferred, your will lose the points when you cancel. Get an everyday along with the platinum.

What about gold? Or PRG?
All typos are Apple's fault.

If it doesn't come back before 1/1 then you lose the $200 credit. Who knows if the 25K offer will even come back?

very true ---but if wait till next year and "25k returns"-- the 25k is worth more than the $200-plus  that will just come later --  since the  card is good for one year one can  still can get total 400 over 12 months -- just need to wait for the 2nd 200in following year

Question for the experts:

I signed up my wife for Platinum (100K targeted offer) and PRG (50K) sometime in July. Paid the AF on Platinum, met spend requirements, points posted for both, and have already availed $200 airline fee credit on Platinum. Now, I am thinking of canceling the Platinum to get the AF refunded (I think I am still within 60 days of AF positing to account, so should get full $450 back). My questions are:

1. Is it safe now to cancel the Platinum without worrying about losing MR points since PRG is still open (I think it is, but just want to confirm with the experts :) ).

2. When the rep asks for the reason to cancel the card, is it ok to say that AF is too high, or I should say something else?

3. How will the AF be refunded? I dont have any balance on the Platinum card right now, and when I cancel the card, do they apply it to PRG or something else?

Thanks for your help.

Yes.
No need for a reason.
You will still see it as a credit into the Platinum even if its already cancelled.

Thanks for the reply. That really helps. One more question for now:

If the card is cancelled and there is a credit on the account, how do I use up that credit?

You can request a check or move it to a card that is active.
