Is it true that recently Amex started considering all flavors of platinum as one product, so you can no longer get the bonus on any of them if you ever had any of them? Thanks.
Are you referring to this? https://m.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/55noxc/data_point_amex_100k_clawback_cfpb_response/?utm_source=mweb_redirect&compact=true

I didn't see it there, but it's the same point. Just wondering why I didn't see a/t on DDF about this.

Probably because there haven't been a lot of data points about it (and the thread got deleted.) It seems like amex is just trying to come up with reasons to claw back the 100k bonuses, I doubt this is actually an indication of them considering all plats as one product.

Was just reading about these new changes! Really interesting to see how much they are cracking down!

New AMEX Changes Effective January 1, 2017: Forfeit, Reversal & Negative Membership Reward Point Balances
my American Express Platinum Charge Card statement just closed and I noticed that there were a lot of “important changes” from American Express.  Most of the time these “important changes” are minor changes in wording to the cardmember agreement, but in the most recent statement, there are some relevant changes to how AMEX Membership Reward points are earned and redeemed.  Here is a quick summary of all the changes:

Late payment fees are going up from $37 to $38
Returned payment fees are going up from $37 to $38
If you do not pay the amount due by the closing date of your next billing period, you will forfeit all points earned during that period
If you return an item and receive a statement credit, the points you earned from that purchase will be reversed
If reversed points make your account balance go negative, all future points earned will be applied to your negative balance
All the aforementioned changes go into effect on January 1, 2017.  It seems like American Express is really cracking down on churners and MSers, especially on AMEX Platinum Charge Cardholders.

Don't see the big deal in the dollar raise for late and returned payments .
Paying on time and forfeiting the points when not seems like the only change that actually makes a difference and going negative when returning an item only makes sense . Doesn't seem like  a big deal though - if you're legit .

Question:On phone with Amex to downgrade Plat to Green (or any other): The reps are telling me that my card isn't eligible to be downgraded to any card. I applied for the Green Card and they said that perhaps after I get the Green Card I may be able to cancel my Plat and pay the pro- rated amount. Anyone have any experience with this? Thank you!

amex plat seems to be handing new card members a gift!!!!

its a free first year!

this gift seems to be targeted.

a blogger reported it a few days ago and i signed up for a mercedez benz plat card a month a go and noticed i never received the AF charge. after i saw this guys post i went on to my account and looked at the t&c and it clearly says annual fee $0 first year then $475

anyone else applied for an amex plat card and recieved a first year free? (exclud amex ameriprise)

Scrolling back a bit would have found it.

Yes, on int'l flights. No need to use same cc for ticket.
Pggm doesn't work on domestic ? On international flights comfort upgrades are usually close to 200, so credit would still kick in?
