Do I need to charge my flights to my BP in order to have emergency Medical Insurance coverage?
or? do you really think that just by having it in your pocket is enough?

Yes

Amex terms and conditions state that no. Here is a direct quote “other Loyalty Programs (i.e. Non-American Express) DO NOT qualify on purchases redeemed in part or full towards the fare or pre-arranged travel cost. An example would be Common Carrier Frequent Flyer Miles point redemption”. Am I missing something?

Platinum cards do not have medical emergency insurance

I see it depends on which insurance. Trip cancellation and trip interruption insurance- yes. Trip delay insurance- yes. Baggage insurance- no

I've found the FT threads for each airline's DP's to be useful for this. United thread is here.
