I wrote this all out for my own clarity but maybe another beginner like myself will benefit. If I overlooked anything, please comment.
Value of Personal PlatLounge access - 20-30 times/year (especially Delta). At $27 a pop that's worth $540 - $810. I wouldn't pay $27 for lounge use but the value is there.
Airline Credit - $200/year
Global Entry Credit - $100 over 5 years = $20/year
5X airfare - somewhere between 65K - 100K MR points/year
Makes for an easy case to keep the Personal plat (Ignore: the 100K that I got makes me rather partial to keeping it as well.
)
Value of Business Plat - after first yearAirline Credit - $200
50% back on coach fares on one airline -
50% back on Business/First on any airline - These two are great but I don't have any way of knowing their long term value.
Clearly, with the 50K points (I doubt I can make the second minimum spend) and triple dip on Airline Credit, it makes sense to get it and keep for a year.
After the first year, the question will become...
If you buy a lot of revenue airfare, personal plat for 5x and biz plat for 2cpp complement each other quite nicely.
True, so for an additional $250/year I get the potential for 2cpp. How much would I have to make back to cover the $250 and get some added value on top of that?
