Can I book a ticket for me and a friend with the Amex 50% back promo?
Or does his ticket need to be booked from his own account?

Recently signed up for AMEX Business Platinum. When I received my materials, I received a separate mailing showing the details of the Membership Rewards program, which included details of all the various cards that can earn miles with the program. One item that stood out was that the American Express Platinum Card (not business card) was listed as a card that did NOT allow transferring of points to miles (similar to some other cards that Dan usually mentions in his posts). Is this a change or am I misreading something?

How long should it take to get the points back for flights?

You sure you have the right airline selected? I would call MR at this point.

I just called amex to cancel my personal platinum after 31 days the fee posted, they told me there is no refund (even prorated) unless I'm downgrading. Is that true? Any idea?

Yes, best option is to downgrade to green, get prorated refund then cancel.
