When do I get charged for adding AU?
I got a charge Within the week of adding it. (by a platinum it's every additional card holder $75 and by the gold it's after 5 additional.)

I just called to cancel my platinum card, and the rep told me that I will loose all my points if I cancel since I have no other amex cards (aside from as an au). Is that info correct? He recommended I convert to the no fee Everyday card to retain my points, but that would require a credit pull since I'm switching from a charge card to a credit card. I definitely would rather avoid. If my only solution is to switch to Everyday, I may as well signup with a bonus...Is this all correct?
If you want to avoid the hard pull why don't you downgrade to a green card.?

Still a $95 annual fee right?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

Will the BRG be able to retain my points using the 75k offer, or it has to be a personal card? Is there a 50k or more offer floating around for PRG?

My annual fee posted on on 1/13 which is also the closing date. My due date is on 2/8. Can I pay the balance and then cancel the card on the 12th to get a refund?

DDMS:Here’s How To Pro-Rate The Annual Fees On AMEX Cards After September 1st, Besides For Moving To Boston
Seems like you can cancel within 30 days, and cannot cancel after that. Although you can downgrade after that with the fee prorated...

Forgive my very uneducated question but I'm finally looking into a rewards card. Until now i always used cashback since I had no intention of flying anywhere given the current circumstances.

I got an offer in the mail for 100k points on the amex platinum card.

Again, I'm very new at this, can someone please justify the $450 fee? I know you get access to lounges and a $200 airline credit per year but all of that caters to flyers so is there something I'm missing? I don't really fly that much....

Thanks for helping out the new guy.
If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.

first of all you are getting 100k points which is worth way more than the $450 annual fee. Then you get the $400 worth of credits in year 1 see here how to cash it out.

Finally if after year one you feel that you are not using the cards benefits you can downgrade to a cheaper card

So what's the consensus? Is it too risky to downgrade right after earning bonus (and getting $200 refund) from legit spending?

It does sound scary, as you cannot downgrade or cancel over chat anymore, they request that you call their retention team. Then over the phone they do review all recent transactions and do point out that you just earned the bonus and that you just benefited from the airline refund. And then you need to explain why would you downgrade or cancel if you just applied...
