Amex Platinum Master Thread

I apologize if this has been covered already, but I can't seem to find an explanation of this.... Can someone clarify whether cancelled Platinum Cards still work as they always did at participating lounges?  (And if so, why would someone use a Priority Pass card instead?)

After which you follow with a comparison of Plat and PP lounge benefits as if they both still work (otherwise why mention PP at all in a thread regarding cancelled Plat card lounge access?)

One more question... Is anyone aware of any instance where Amex has billed a cardholder for lounge use with a cancelled Platinum Card? Obviously they wouldn't be able to charge it to the Platinum account, but they could theoretically find their way to an open Amex account under the same cardholder.

Wait, are you saying you understood what I said and you don't have ~11,000 posts only have ~75 posts?

I haven't heard of any incidents where AmEx has billed under the circumstances.

I just flew from detroit to Amsterdam, Used my expired platinum for the Delta lounge in Detroit, the tried to use my priority pass card in Amsterdam, she swiped it and said it dosen't work sorry.

I need an opinion:

I used the bad 50k link, fought, and got them to agree to give the 50k.  I already got 25k, and they say the rest should post "within 8 weeks of meeting the spending requirement."  My statement looks something like this:

Amazon Payments ----------------- $1000
(receive 25k)
AA gift cards ------------------------- $200
AMEX reimbursement --------------   - $200
AA Refund ----------------------------   - $200

My total spending is now $800.  Need I spend another $200 to get the remaining 25k?

yes because you will probably have to fight with them to get the pts and they will investigate if you fulfilled the requirements which they will say you didnt. so to be on safe side you should spend 200. im pretty sure you have a friend you can buy a 200 gift for:)
