Why do you think you'll have a witch hunt? If they will want to combine it they will, sometimes when I call and I have more then one MR account they offer to combine them.
You can ask chat to move over the points from one mr account to the other if that is easier than merging

Experience has shown that discussing these things on a public forum always leads to more issues. Please find non public ways to discuss it

if he upgrades he will get the bonus. If he signs up for a new plat he will not

He seemed to imply that since he is eligible for an upgrade he can apply for a new plat since it is as if the system doesnt see that he had one before. That is what I was saying was wrong. Upgrades are different than applying for a new account

So your saying you can get an upgrade if you had the card before, but not vice versa?

Didn't use it consistently, but sometimes it could have been 5-10k in a single month.

My annual fee is due tomorrow. I'd like to close out the card and not pay the fee, though I bought several thousands worth of airline tickets and the 5x points haven't posted yet.

Any advice?

Thanks!

Thanks, though I'd prefer not to lay out the cash if I don't have to.

+1, If it's due already he likely doesn't have enough time, unless he wants to downgrade and get prorated refund.
