I just got this SM response from Amex regarding the 50,000 points. Any feedback on how to handle this I would like to cancel this card before the membership charge is due.

I have checked your Card account ending in 01003 and see that the promotional offer associated with your Card account is "earn 50,000 Membership Rewards bonus points after spending $1,000 the Card within the first 90 days of Cardmembership."
I would like to inform you that as per the promotional offer the 50,000 points will be credited to your account within 8 - 10 weeks of meeting the $1,000 spend.
I see that you reached your $1,000.00 spend on 05/22/2012. Therefore, please wait for 8 - 10 weeks from 05/22/2012 for these points to appear on your account.
I understand that you need these points for travel. However, I would appreciate your understand that the system automatically issues these points to your account within 8 - 10 weeks. This is not done manually. Therefore, I will not be able to expedite these points to your account and will have to wait till this 8 - 10 timeframe.
I appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter.
