There is no firm rule but generally amex is willing to give you the bonus again if it's been ~7 years since you closed your previous card. Sometimes it's even a year or two shorter than that.

I think I'm only about 5 years out....any chance of getting it with mailer w/o language or those days are over?
How can I see if possible without applying and getting hard pull etc?

I got it next day, did you book through amex travel and FHR or TLH choices? If yes you could contact amex

If I spend on a new card and take advantage of the 0% APR, will that spend count for getting the sign up bonus, or it only paid amounts count?

I believe the amex pop-up (showing if you’d be eligible for the welcome bonus) occurs prior to the hard-pull. So you should be fine.

Helping 2 people with their AMEX Platinum cards.

1 persons "benefits" tab shows where they're holding with airline fee credit and hotel credit
the other person gets taken to the "rewards" tab when they hit benefits and then they can't see where they're holding with the hotel credit - only airline

What happens if a platinum card is canceled/downgraded soon after the bonus points posts. Can you ask for a prorated annual fee credit? Do the points get clawed back?

Are you talking about the sign up bonus? Don't do it

If I paid for a $400 2022 hotel booking at the end of 2021
Full charge posted 2021 and received $200 credit then- would amex travel refund and recharge half to make me receive the 2022 amex credit as well?
