Quick question if I get the plat spend 1k in the first month and cancel the card before the points post will the points till post I also have a consumer gold rewards card

Why would you cancel so soon? You have 60 days to cancel and the entire annual fee is credited back to you.

60 days from when? And when does the yearly fee usually post?

Btw I have heard that if you call amex if the annual fee posted earlier then 30 days after u activated your card then they will push it off for you- I know someone who did that

60 days from the billing statement with the annual fee.
1st billing statement.

so basically u need to pay it then they refund it? do they send u a check or what? sorry for all the questions rly appreciate ur help

Yes, you pay and they will refund you. You can ask for a check or credit on another amex account.

So I called spg customer service (NOT spg amex) to ask for gold status bc I recently opened an amex platinum card. The csr asked the typical identification questions (name address etc) and then said you should receive your gold card in 6-8 weeks. No questions about the actual paltinum card, no fax in a statement or customer code - nothing! Is that normal? should I be concerned and call spg again? (only asking bc I want to cancel my plat soon and want to make sure I get gold status on spg's end before canceling plat. Also if this is it i guess people can just call spg and ask for gold regardless of anything else and YMMV)

I got my first plat card in December 2010 and closed it 2/1/2011 and got a full refund
Then on 3/20/2011 i reapplied, and was not approved right away but yesterday i got the approval letter
I just called them and they are overnighting the card and it will be here by tomorrow

Now i must stop opening cards for the next few months because i have wayyy to many inquiries and very little credit history.

I just got my 50k membership rewards from my Platinum card. I have a Premier Rewards Gold that I just opened . Before I close my Platinum card do I need to transfer the rewards to the Gold card or as long as I have an active Amex card the points are there

u dont need to transfer

Approved on one day for plat(from dd link), gold and hilton amex. 75k plus hotel stays. very pleased bh. Would never have done that before, so thanks dan and everyone.

have most of the other good ones already (and denied for citi 75k) and these are the best three amex i found right now. this way one hit on the credit. may not be mistapek but am lamed mikol adam so where did i go wrong?

one, would not be happy if it was three. I get identity monitoring courtesy of Penfed Amex who had a security breach.

A friend on the forum got three inquiries. I think he tried to use private-mode/incognito windows instead of three browsers, but it might also be that they pulled more than one report to verify his addresses.
