Regarding the original topic: My roomate in yeshiva years ago was very interested in becoming a pilot (everyone else was going for accounting and law etc., but this was his passion). He did a lot of research and as it stood back then only senior pilots were able to choose not to fly weekends. The more senior you are the more you get to choose better flying days and weekends are the least desirable days. So as junior pilot it seems close to impossible to become a pilot. Of course there is elal and arkia, but who would go into a career knowing that 99% or airlines are closed off to them..The few people who he was able to seek out that were frum commercial pilots, were Baal Teshuvas who got into the field prior to being frum.
Is this true as well for cargo and general aviation pilots as well?

in another day of accurate reporting it didn't say he flew them it says he volunteered to.
Truth but it definitely seemed to imply that he flew them, and if he didn't why is it news? I volunteer to be the first person to fly to Mars
Because the PM usually flies on a 777, and he is licensed to fly a 777 and he volunteered. BTW Haaretz reported it 3 days ago.
