How many miles have you gone on empty tank?

Hi everyone, I didn't see a discussion about this before so I figured I'll open a new thread.
Given the fact that I'm a ddf'er I only fill up gas by "shell". (those are the only gas gift cards staples sells) except for when the freedom's quarter is gas (like now) sometimes I have to travel a little more then "allowed" to get to a "shell" station so I was wondering about people's experience;  how much did you drive on an 'E'mpty tank?
I do realize that every car is different so include your car and under which circumstances did you do it: a/c on, traffic, Etc.

I guess I'll be the first to post 22 miles on a toyota camry. half of it with A/C on, maybe 5 minutes of it in traffic.

I was driving from Baltimore to NY once. My gas light went on when I was still on the 295 in Delaware. I figured I'll wait until I get to jersey to fill up. But because of traffic on the 95 I took the 295 which was a mistake because there are no rest stops with gas stations. After driving for several miles on the 295 I got off at an exit that had a gas station sign to look for gas but the gas station was empty. I got back on the highway and figured Instead of getting off at every exit and hoping for a gas station nearby I'll just wait until I get on th 95. This was another mistake, I thought I would get on the 95 at exit 7 and could stop at the rest stop there but I actually didn't get on the 95 until right after the rest stop. So I ended up getting off at te next exit (I think and drove around looking for a gas station until seine finally told me where I can find one.
After all was done I probably drove north of 75 miles on empty. I learnt that night that my tank is a lot larger than I though.

When the light comes on you have at least 3 gallons, sometimes 5. On the highway that can equate to 80+ miles

yup that's what I learnt that night. Although I think that might depend on what car you drive, one of te cars I used to drive had a "miles to empty" meter and whenever it would reach 50 miles the light would go on.

I fill up when I'm at half a tank to avoid such scenarios.

Even the "miles to empty" meter is incorrect, I drove 20 miles with the meter showing 0 miles. Toyota Sienna

Ease way to figure it out, check the Owners Manual what the capacity of your tank is
I know my tanks capacity is 18 gal. when my gauge is on E-empty I can only put in around 15 gal. So I know that I have 3 gal when it's on E'

Right, before this incident I always thought my tank was 15.5-16 gallons as whenever the light would go on I would only put a bit more than 15 gallons until tank was full. This time I put in over 17 gallons. I checked the owners manual afterwards and found out the tank can hold over 18 gallons.

I've done 45 miles on "0", 2007 sienna.

I dunno, but I once put in more gas than the fuel tank officially holds...
