Buddy System?
« on: August 29, 2014, 03:15:16 AM »
what do you guys think about a big brother/buddy match up on DDF to help eliminate some of the excessive posts etc...There would have to be rules of course, my thoughts are-only veterans who want to participate will obviously (I hope some will) and you don't just happen your way on to DDF and get a vet buddy at your service...its for the intermediates who sort of know what they are doing, have done their due diligence.
This is not for anyone to expect secrets to be told to them, just a go to person who's been around the block a couple of times who can give advice.
It would have to be a thread of people requesting a buddy and then someone volunteering to "adopt" them, so no one gets stuck with someone they don't want
I have been very lucky to have a couple of very helpful veteran members (one in particular, you know who you are) and I think it could really work...and of course the goal is for the student to become the next mentor to a new member after they are around long enough and no longer need theirs...anyone think this can work, or not a chance? As I'm writing this, I'm thinking it only has maybe a 10% chance of happening or there being any interest but wondering what the thoughts are

aww poor baby :'(
if that were to happen and no one was willing to "adopt" a specific person on here that person may want to take a step back and figure out why...again this is sort of a privilege to be earned, not a right of passage, so not everyone will get a buddy necessarily, first a little bit of respect has to be earned
also each person could state...looking for someone mostly for guidance with: could be CCs, MS, award or travel bookings etc. The really devoted veterans can "adopt" multiple members if they'd like of course.
just an insomniac brainstorm here-would love feedback/suggestions

If you seen her you would not call her a "buddy".  ;)

Can we get back to being serious? Still need an award travel buddy to teach me the ropes. Did I mention Milt's is in the picture?  :)

Didn't Chuck teach you everything already at the Chicago DO ? Or did everyone's spinning head negate all that was learned ?
