I've brought various siblings and even my mother along for some trips.
Definitely worth it if you've got the extra points to burn.

Are siblings and/or parents really the same thing? In a large suite, i would consider putting a family member there, for a babysitter, probably not as comfortable.

I've always redeemed for a 2nd room when traveling with my family.

I guess depending on point earning rates, that can be easier/harder :)

A friend of mine took a sibling as a babysitter (for 2 children) to Hawaii, booked 2 hotel rooms, and loved it. It cost him more points, but said it was well worth it.

We're planning a trip to Costa Rica this winter, and have pre-emptively booked a second room for our nanny. Assuming she's up for the idea, I think its worth the extra points/airfare.

On this topic, can I hear what people have to say on flying premium with your spouse and sending the child/infant with a babysitter in economy?

That's what we booked, though may go elsewhere for part of the stay to see other parts of the country.
