Just got an email from Gett (uber competitor) that all rides within manhattan are only $10 + tip until 2015.

Obviously it's not going to make them money. NY Post article says it's only till the end of the year, so they're just trying to attract a customer base. It's not a long term pricing strategy. Whether or not it'll actually work is yet to be seen.

they basically said that theyre doing it in the hopes that people download the app and obviously they are losing money from it. Remains to be seen if they can draw people away from uber/lyft

wow, nice. I'm assuming these are rolling credits as in if I take a $10 ride plus $5 tip, i'll still have $25.
