Jet Blue Amex Card
« on: September 07, 2014, 01:22:51 AM »
Can anyone please advise pros and cons for this card? I will be flying JetBlue a bit over the next few months and think it's wise to get miles.
Also, do these kinds of CC work through banks? Also, which credit agency will they pull from when I apply?

Thanks.

Amex JetBlue has a $40 fee.
You earn 3 ppd (points per dollar) for spending on JetBlue. (I think)
Using the points:  Each flights price in miles depends on the price in cash.  Unlike some airlines (united, AA, Delta (for now)....) that have set miles prices for each route no matter what the cash price is.

If you would buy your Jetblue seats with a Barclay's Arrival card.
You would earn 2.2 ppd.
that can be used a .01 (1 cent ) each to pay for flights, hotels and other travel expenses paid for with the card.

If you would use the Chase Sapphire Preferred, you would earn 2 ppd.  You would be earning valuable UR (ultimate rewards) points. That can be transferred to various airlines and hotels.

Thanks for the roundup. You actually earn 8 points per dollar (when booking through JetBlue. 6 JetBlue points and 2 Amex-JetBlue points (I don't know how that works...).

Also, I might as well get the card for the sign up bonus which is 20k true blue points, and I guess I'll figure out over time if it's worth keeping.

Look around for a 40k offer, you might have to sign up for a JetBlue account and wait for the marketing email

Just received letter in mail from Amex stating that on March 21, my Amex JetBlue will be replaced with the Barclays JetBlue Rewards MasterCard. Amex is transferring the account over.
This sounds very interesting. Is there a precedent for CC issuers to transfer cards like that?

now i wonder if i should leave my jetblue account open to give me more credit leverage with barclays for future card openings or close to get new sign up bonus with them when the card becomes available.

+1
Barclays has not been letting me apply for any cards (all my apps get auto declined) since I tried churning the US Airways.

Why would having one already prevent a sign-up bonus? You still wouldn't have received the bonus before.

easier to get recon for new product line vs if you already have the card

They won't let me convert to any other card. Not sure where he came up with that.

Is your card less than 13 months old?

Finally details on the sign up bonus. http://lazytravelers.net/new-barclaycard-jetblue-card-is-here-and-more-plastic-news/
I applied for the business card and it's pending. The first Barclay business card out there, no?
