First of all it was winter for awile so I stopped my search. Second, they don't seem to moderately make these things. It only a free samsung watch from newegg or and expensive one. No in between.
I'm not who you think I am.

there seem to be more in between options now, although i think most are for running. for cycling you really need either a gps or one of the ones that attaches to pedals and measures pressure you put on it and distance.

I have had the Huawei for a few months now and I love it. Especially now that Android Wear supports the speaker.

I just got a Apple Watch as a gift. I have the ability to exchange it for another smart watch. I'm trying to decide what to do. I currently have an iPhone although my last phone was an android. Some downsides to the Apple Watch that I see is 1- I am stuck with the iPhone 2-it's ugly. Any input as to the pros cons and abilities of the Apple smart watch or any others would be much appreciated.

Get a smart watch that is compatible with the phone you will be using.
Whatever you get you will need to stick with a compatible smartphone.
If you won't be using an iPhone, get an Android smartwatch.

I have the galaxy gear s2 and it can be used to read whatsapp msgs as well as email, text, phone calls... Responding is a bit tricky. It has a keyboard but its not really efficient to type on it. I see the msg and decide if its important enough to pull out my phone to respond. My main use is that I can leave my phone sitting on a wireless charger on my desk and as long as I am within bluetooth range (IME about 40-50 feet) I can still see all my msgs. I also use it to answer phone calls when im holding things and cant hold a phone, although its on speaker so it only works if its not a private convo. I never would have bought mine but now that I got it I find myself using it a lot.

As for your 2nd question, your phone stays connected to your car and watch at the same time

I use a pebble and set it up to show me some notifications.
Battery lasts a week and I can reply with canned responses that I customized. It's very helpful. Battery life is a huge plus. Pebble steel
Also, I can dismiss the message so when I take out my phone it doesn't show as unread.

Do they still produce it? Didn't Fitbit buy them?

Pebble is toast.
Their IP was bought but the brand is gone.
