We were never taught ethics outside of religion. We were taught halacha and everything else but we were not taught as humans what is wrong and right. We were brainwashed and fooled into being a good frum Jew but not a good person. Recently I asked a big famous Rosh Yeshiva if God wants us to be good humans or good Jews (if we had to choose 1 of the 2) and he replied God want us to be good Jews.

Sorry, I disagree with this. Part of being a good Jew is being a good person. If you were taught halacha, that should have included hilchos bein adam l'chaveiro.

I am not very frum now, but I went to the most chassidish school in town. All the classes were in Yiddish and most of the students were children of kollol yungeleit. I was taught from the age of 5 that we must hate and murder amalek for  no reason. They taught us that we must kill every single one of them even if they lived in isolation for the past 3000 years and for 3000 years they never have seen a Jew. We were taught that goyim were all created to serve us and we are far superior than them. We were taught (in first grade!)  that being black was a curse of God.
:o :o :o :o I went to a Chasidishe school as well I was teached to be a good jew.

And yes, we MUST hate and murder amalek for  no reason. We must kill every single one of them even if they lived in isolation for the past 3000 years and for 3000 years they never have seen a Jew. At least that what it says in the Thorah and I am saying it every day.

That only applies for Jews. The only place it says you have to respect non jew is "ahavas brios".

A good Jew includes a good human plus more. The basics is demanded from every person, jew and non jew alike. Being a jew is something that obligates us to act even better, to do the basics AND to go beyond the letter of the law.

1. You're lucky IHG is eating the loss.
2. Since IHG is eating the loss (see #1) aren't they motivated to come after the guy themselves?

choosing between being a good Jew or a good person even if only theoretical makes no sense and has no bearing on the above story. If one believes that being a good a good person is being a good jew then he is defining a good person as one who follows Judaism. What  I suspect that rabbi meant, was that if we had to choose between what the world considers a good person (eg: on who embraces same sex marriage , or egalitarianism) or being a good jew then he would choose being a good jew. Your lack of understanding of chazal or pesukim in the Torah has no relevance to the story.

The world doesn't consider someone who embraces same sex marriage as a good person. The world considers a good person as someone who treats everyone with respect even someone you may not agree with.

wrong. If you listen to public radio or talk shows in general you will hear that it's virtuous to embrace those that live that lifestyle and not just accept them as humans but rather people with a legitimate lifestyle.

I also gave him an example of acting like a crazy human but to be frum or acting normal and civilized but not frum.

Of course we should accept them. I can vote how I want, and believe what I want but at the end of the day you accept people and respect that and love them regardless.
