I also gave him an example of acting like a crazy human but to be frum or acting normal and civilized but not frum.
Why wouldn't you consider the other way around?...

who the Rosh yeshiva? I don't understand the point. How could I split being normal from being frum if I believe frum is normal?

It's a great discussion in Judiasm. I've asked parents before ... Would you rather your kid be religious or would you rather your kid be a good person? If you had to choose one or the other...
Always having these theoretical conversations.. gets people thinking.

Of course we should accept them. I can vote how I want, and believe what I want but at the end of the day you accept people and respect that and love them regardless.
accept them as a legitimate lifestyle? Or accept them as people with a big Nisayon?

His son asked me not to quote him on it.

His son asked me not to quote him on it.

And as a good person, you are keeping your word to the son. I'm glad you're not so frum.  ;)

Very well written. That's not rambling.
Felt rambling to me.  Didn't confuse you?

Hmmm so anyone of them on the forums....
No.

so if I'm understanding correctly IHG replaced the points not "Dovid"? Do they not care to go after the guy?
If he books over the phone, have you tried this to see what information they actually require over the phone? could be he says he doesn't have the number off hand can they look up the account with other info
They probably don't know who the scammer is...
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

It was well written, but I still couldn't follow. Maybe we could have puppets re-enact the phone calls between you and the scammers?

2. Since IHG is eating the loss (see #1) aren't they motivated to come after the guy themselves?
Maybe the guy told IHG to give Dan back his points and in return he would not sue them for giving out his personal information.

No, although I could see most people on DDMS scratching their heads over this one.

The only argument I would understand would assume that the good way isn't neccesarly the right way and vice versa. I hope I would pick the right way for bein Adam lamakom and the good way for bein Adam lechaveiro. Just my 2 cents

Meanwhile this guy gets off scot free and will probably just keep doing this.
Is there any way you can insist that does not happen?
The way he knew that they were going to give you back the points is because he probably claimed to be you as he had been doing for months.

Insist what? I should call IHG and rat him out? Splash his name on DDMS for people to watch out?
Or just warn people in general...

He probably impersonated me again, that's my guess.  But I don't know that for a fact.

Perhaps reminds me of the rambam that it's a mitzva to masser if the person will continue to harm people.
Though I don't think you should go public with the name.

That's actually why I was hesitant to post the story at all. I'm setting myself up for more of these issues.
He did it over the phone with a dumb rep.
IHG is pathetic.
