Is it really a bad idea to have a third party pay off your credit card? There are a couple of ways to do it, are there

1- someone could I add your card as a bill pay account

2- you can add someones routing and account number to your credit card account online.

3- you can pay it at a branch.

Dan wrote about it on http://www.dansdeals.com/archives/35174

And listed at as risky behavior that could triger a A/A or FR.

"Having a 3rd party pay off a credit card bill or deposit a check into your account."

Is it always a bad idea, or is there a legit way to do it.

Anyone have experience with

1- Chase
2- Amex
3- Cities

?

Dan, is it against the credit card rules? Or just risky behavior?

Do you know anyone that got into trouble?

Would I be violating any rules if I make 3rd party payments?  Or is it just considered risky behavior?

I understand that there is risk involved but the payoff makes it worth it.

Anyone?

It is against Amex T&C to pay online from an account you do not have signature authority on.

Hmmmm. So will mailing the check help?

And if I pay from a business check with a business name, how American Express know if I have signature authority on it?

TIA

I have to pay bills in my father's name to chase.
1 does being an au lessen the risk?
2 can I just open a serve account in his name and pay through that?  Any risk involved?
Thanks

How did he pay it? In the branch? Did he add you as a payee? Or did you use his account number and routing information on your account?
