every time someone calls into my GV number (which is now my home number) a little keypad pops up on the bottom right in my gmail page notifing that someone is calling and i can press talk and pick up the call and talk with my laptop microphone.
but because it's my home no it's very disturbing

I think that setting is under web notifications. Also, on the legacy GV settings you can uncheck google Chat

In gmail click on the phone icon on the bottom left > click on the dropdown menu next your name > there should be options for notifications
