I think that's everyone's biggest concern. There really is no telling what they can do. They may even be able to get fake ids and passports if they were so inclined to get birth certificate copies from the hospitals (all it takes is one phone call, some personal info and $20-40 for shipping). The people running these programs are probably just trying to make a quick buck off naive people and I'm not going to pick that fight. However, these naive people may very well be committing financial suicide. If they give their information away once they may do it again and again. In doing so they would be opening a world of hurt trying to solve an identity theft pandora's box. IMO an ad is a good public service announcement to not be short sighted and take on all this risk for a few thousand dollars which you might not ever get anyway.

I think these people are being grossly overestimated. If you look at their earlier ads they are written in poor English and are extremely childish. They have gotten better with time as they hired a designer to do it for them, but I doubt we are dealing with major sophistication. It is more likely someone who was never successful in anything who finally found something which worked and was clueless of any ramifications. By now I am sure they have heard them but once they start seeing the money it is easy to come up with terutzim.They probably even feel they are doing a chesed.

To take it a step further, this situation is all an unfortunate result of the system (lkwd, lack of basic education, kollel requirement etc..) we have created. Seems like these guys are probably innocent, as they're uninformed and uneducated but are desperate to make $, probably officially sat (or still sitting) in "kollel" when they were never really cut out for it in the first place. It would have been much better for them to have received a secular education and find a productive and fulfilling job in some form or another. I really can't not think about it this way when I see things like this or similar going on in our "sophisticated" community.

This philosophy is an integral part of DDF.

This whole thread has gone wildly OT IMHO. The main concern always was the legal risk that the CC farms pose, and the impeding chillul hashem. 
The major difference between what the farmers do and what the average ddf'r does, is all about the scale. This scaling of the 'game' is indeed a great concern.
But everything else about 'opening businesses', Sweet talking reps and even RT should stay in the ETHICS thread where they belong.

The people who sign up with the farms are stupid but not "that" stupid. They have to know that its not all 100%...

I have a friend who works for Mishpacha - which these farms advertise in. He told me I should write up an email about them and he'll make sure that it gets to the proper person in the Mishpacha Magazine and they can see exactly who are advertising in their magazine. I am starting to write it up and would appreciate people PM'ing me phrases and things to say and I'll try to add it all in.

Can't the same thing be said about DDFers? One opens 2 CC's and another opens 10+. One does 1k of MS and another does 100k+. What scale are we all using?
