$75 fee:

-21+ days prior to departure is based on the departing city time zone, not the booking city time zone.

EDIT: I managed to call in and have them waive the fee when it was within 21 days in departing city time zone but not by booking city time zone

UPDATE: AA has removed all close-in fees

I think the devaluation will not include MIA as the distance is more like 1000 miles

There's no airport with in 1000 miles of MIA? Interesting, that's news to me.

Does QR open J availability two days out like some of the other airlines or no?

YMMV, but don't bank on it.

I'm in the same boat, but booked on EK J as a backup.

Ah, ok. Thought it was almost a sure thing like EY.

Over the past month or so I was checking fairly religiously and came across enough lack of space to give me pause.

How far in advance on EY? I'm only seeing available on some flights the day before, and not even always there...

Ok so I have a slightly complicated award plan-would love to know if you see any issues with it.

My ideal routing is:
TLV-AMM-AUH-SYD-CNS for two adults in F with two lap infants.
RJ, EY, QF

Problems:
  • TLV-AMM only seems to release two J seats
  • AUH-SYD a380 space is very sparse in advanced, so even though I'd like to fly to SYD, I'd rather fly F and there's no guarantee it'll open up
  • Fying in May, and with coming AA devaluation I want to lock in F price beforehand even if space only opens the day before
  • Infant fares are crazy on EY (sometimes 20% in F) so I'd like to just book 4 seats @60k miles each.

Best solutions I can think of:
  • Book TLV-AMM on with Avios to book with lap infants at only 19,800 for both adults and 2 infants which solves the issue with RJ J2
  • Book AUH-MEL-CNS for 2 with AMM-AUH in F, one pair traveling on EY 460 on Wednesday night, other pair on 462 Thursday morning.
This solves the issues as follows:
  • Avoids the infant fares by having space for all the pax
  • Can lock in AUH-MEL in F for all 4 pax at 60k with 2 seats on each flight
  • hopefully 2 more F will open up on one of the flights
  • If space opens up AUH-BNE or ideally AUH-SYD on a380 the trailing last flight to CNS preserves my ability to change that routing since CNS still stays the destination, and the flight is the next day which means I can get my bags
  • If F doesn't open up I'm assuming they can still book us into J, which seems is usually pretty open

What am I missing or where did I mess up? Thanks!

Keep in mind.
- BA charges YQ on RJ.
- Starting a ticket ex-AMM will cost slightly more in tax as opposed to starting ex-TLV.

Doing so will cost $150+$25+$25+$25 (assuming all on same PNR), and possibly the new rates.

    Any idea the YQ?

Yes it's more expensive in terms of taxes but can't really think of how to go about it otherwise. If I could book the kids separately I could book them ex AMM and book the adults starting in TLV and my understanding is I can get RJ to issue the infant ticket for that segment alone (TLV-AMM) but don't think I could split the PNRs that way.

Also considering to book 4 in F I have to split into two PNRs for the different AUH-MEL flights as only two F are available per flight, no?

Doing so will cost $150+$25+$25+$25 (assuming all on same PNR), and possibly the new rates.
Uggg...they can't just keep it at charging me 60k and sticking me in J? Would just move two from 462 to 460 on previous date, but still ain't cheap[/list]

    Both of these?
    RJ YR surcharge (YR)
    $48.00
    RJ YQ surcharge (YQ)
    $5.70
