$75 fee:

-21+ days prior to departure is based on the departing city time zone, not the booking city time zone.

EDIT: I managed to call in and have them waive the fee when it was within 21 days in departing city time zone but not by booking city time zone

UPDATE: AA has removed all close-in fees

Flying CX J (booked through AA) tomorrow. Just tried checking in online on CX's website and getting a message that there's an issue with my e-ticket number. Anybody knows what this means? Trying to get a hold of CX but terribly long hold times and when someone finally picked up the last time I called, he just hung up.

I've had that before. Turned out that it meant nothing. Worth a call I guess.

Should I waste my time trying to get through or just check in at airport/train station tomorrow? I just don't want to run into any issues then.

I called and was told I'd have no problem at the counter but the agent didn't understand why it wasn't working online. I also called AA and they told me all is good on their end. It was a rez I booked within 36hrs of the flight.

Just got through. They told me that the e-ticket number that I was given was an AA number so the system doesn't recognize it online but that I won't have any issues checking in at airport.

Lol, yeah. Always need to ask AA for the record locator of the airline you are flying on.

I have the CX record locator. I can pull up the res on CX.com with their booking reference, but it says there's an issue with the e-ticket number (even though I'm not even using one to pull up the res).

When canceling an AA award, will they refund the tax to a different card than the one that was used for payment? If not, what about an AA GC?

They will refund it to the cc you used for the taxes.

$150 to change dest from JFK to EWR??  Supervisor wouldn't waive it.  Even though the ticket was initially EWR and when I switched to JFK they told me it was a co-terminal.

Worth fighting?

You mean they let you change it from EWR to JFK for free?

Original rep was either wrong or waived it.

Second rep is correct per AA policy.

Is there any way around the AA close-in fees like with...?

I can't find this discussion that I read somewhere and I don't remember the conclusion.

Pms may be best.

I'm looking online at a domestic Business Saver award for Sep 20 (next week) and it's pricing out at 25k + 5.60 -no close-in fee (also no elite status). I've already put it on hold, but wondering if this is a glitch, or an exception I don't know about?

ETA: Whoops, was looking at wrong date...

Maybe they'll bill you close in fee upon ticketing.

Booked tickets last october for March this year. Changed booking to October in March when i flew on different routing. So far there havent been any excuses for me to request cancellation without fee. The tickets say ticketed March xx 2016. Any chance they extended my booking by mistake so that i can change again and extend to March?
