$75 fee:

-21+ days prior to departure is based on the departing city time zone, not the booking city time zone.

EDIT: I managed to call in and have them waive the fee when it was within 21 days in departing city time zone but not by booking city time zone

UPDATE: AA has removed all close-in fees

IME they make you CANCEL the whole trip, then rebook. So you pay the one way fare, AND there needs to still ne availability....
didnt actually book the trip. i had the same question with delta, they needed to manually refund and on 1 of the tickets refunded the whole trip   - on the others 50% of the mileage

Couple of questions here:

1. AA Advantage agent claims that CitiBiz Plat Select AA card benefit of "First checked bag free on domestic American Airlines itineraries for you and up to 4 travel companions on the same reservation" includes flights to Canada (as long as I'm on the reservation with my AA Advantage regardless of how flight is paid for).
Can anyone confirm that it includes Canada?

2. If I cancel AA Award flights, will I be refunded miles and taxes? taxes are almost $55 per ticket when leaving Canada...
Common sense is not a gift, it is a punishment.
Because you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it.

With regards to question #2: yes you will get the taxes back too

with regard to question #1 I can confirm that when I redeemed economy web special award flights to and from Canada (YYZ) it shows "1st bag free" which actually confuses me since I have 8 people on the itinerary and I though the CitiBiz Plat Select card only offers "for you and up to 4 travel companions"

It can be done at the airport day of flight.  I upgraded JFK-TLV basic economy (error fare) to premium economy (they only allow a one class upgrade) for cash at the gate.  It was pretty reasonable too, only about $250 if I recall.  I even got the EQD/EQM for the segment.

Yes, it should've extended your expiration date by 24 months

Any way to combine an AA award ticket with a paid Elal leg onto one PNR to protect in case of delays?

A: no.
B: even if it was on the same PNR, nothing would be protected since separate tickets and LY is not part of One World (also luggage likely wouldn't be checked through).

Booked a rt, outbound is an internet special which can't be changed, only cancelled, but inbound was a regular award. Should I be able to change or cancel only the inbound?

Not sure how it works with Award, but on a regular Revenue ticket, the most restrictive penalty / rules apply to the entire ticket.

I was thinking that maybe once the outbound is flown the inbound can then be cancelled.

Any idea how I can find/cancel an AA award booking online for which I never received a confirmation # or ticket #?

I see the miles deducted in my activity (and name of traveller and date), but the email that I got only has the name of traveler, miles deducted, and date issued- no confirmation # or ticket #.

I called and was told once the outbound is flown I could cancel the inbound.

My elderly father in law is traveling to israel this summer. Was supposed to travel with a nephew of mine and I booked them both a an AA premium economy award ticket (67.5k per person per way). Turns out that nephew won't be able to make that journey with him so another nephew has volunteered.. problem is premium economy NY-TLV is no longer available that depart date. I believe I can cancel the original traveler's Premium Economy award ticket, question is if it's gonna open up that premium economy award spot immediately so I can book that seat for my other nephew?
Or should I not cancel and rather try name and DOB change on the original ticket?
