$75 fee:

-21+ days prior to departure is based on the departing city time zone, not the booking city time zone.

EDIT: I managed to call in and have them waive the fee when it was within 21 days in departing city time zone but not by booking city time zone

UPDATE: AA has removed all close-in fees

You can get free bags with a business ticket. May be worth it to use the extra miles.

My AA flight of JFK-SFO-HND (AA F and JAL F) turned into JFK-LFR-HND on BA F. Two bags never made it to HND so they gave us 600 pounds and the BA flights were revenue fare. Not a bad start to vacation.

You can request that AA open up space on a domestic leg when booking an international award ticket.
How do you do that?  Does it work if the international flight is on a partner?
