$75 fee:

-21+ days prior to departure is based on the departing city time zone, not the booking city time zone.

EDIT: I managed to call in and have them waive the fee when it was within 21 days in departing city time zone but not by booking city time zone

UPDATE: AA has removed all close-in fees

Ok, I'll try to get as high up as I can. But you are 100% convinced that I have no shot with getting those fees waived?

No. Anything can happen. I'm just saying they're technically entitled to charge them.

That part doesn't seem right to me. Cancelling the return should have no effect on the outbound, unless I'm missing something.
Update: I spoke to multiple agents and supervisors, they all insist that changing the inbound leg would effect the outbound, and they refuse to attempt to change one leg.

What they did recommend doing is booking the itinerary that I have on hold (with the $75 close in fee) then once I get to TLV, cancel the inbound and pay the $150 to get the miles for the inbound flight redeposited.

Weird. In any event, though, you can do what they suggest as there's no difference.

I haven't paid for a flight since 2011.
Didn't you end up flying to SEA for *G?

Double-checking a few more things:

a) in general, it's best to have two OWs instead of one RT to maintain maximum flexibility. However, if I end up having to cancel both OWs, will I then have to pay $300?

b) if I have a RT, is it possible to push the outbound past the return (i.e. switch the first flight from PHL-TLV to TLV-PHL), and if so is that considered a change in origin/destination?

TIA!

Interesting, so making two OWs instead of a RT also carries certain risks with it.

It deepens on the airline. the best example is avios, where you would pay the same cancel fee (the lower of $45 or taxes  per leg IIRC)  whether booked ow or rt, so ow is better

I just recieved this from AA about my booking

We would like to confirm that the following AAdvantage® miles have been deducted from this account:
Date Issued   Mileage   Description
01-**-2015   67,500   Flight Award

If by any chance you did not authorize these miles to be deducted, please contact us so we can assist you.

If the mileage deduction was for a flight, car or hotel award, you will receive your confirmation and/or voucher(s) separately.

Anything to be worried about? (I have never sold miles, and the only ticket that ever wasnt under my name was my sisters who has the same last name) This ticket was for me.

Doesn't seem like they are thinking you sold. More like, maybe you were hacked. Could be wrong though.

Same here. Besides for the ticket email seems like just a confirmation that you took out the miles.

That's what I originally thought, but I remembered hearing that AA corporate security is crazy.
