$75 fee:

-21+ days prior to departure is based on the departing city time zone, not the booking city time zone.

EDIT: I managed to call in and have them waive the fee when it was within 21 days in departing city time zone but not by booking city time zone

UPDATE: AA has removed all close-in fees

You can cancel & hold it in your AA account for a year.
Or keep changing it.

Thanks. 2 more questions

How long before the travel date do you have to change it? Can I cancel same day?

And if I don't end up using it by the end of a year from ticketing, can I choose THEN to pay the fee and have then redeposited?

Isn't that only if the NEW travel date is within 21 dates?

Am looking to book an AA award ticket for travel in the next two weeks and they are looking for a close-in fee.

Can I book the same route a month or two out, avoid the close-in fee, then call in to have dates changed (as in with United)?  Will they still charge close-in fee?

I'm booked on elal and a previous rep had told me that if there was a travel advisory out they would redeposit the miles for free.

Now there is an advisory out and they are refusing to waive the fee, hucad a few times already should I keep trying?

Alternatively since I have the previous rep recorded saying there would be no fee, grounds for a charge back?
