$75 fee:

-21+ days prior to departure is based on the departing city time zone, not the booking city time zone.

EDIT: I managed to call in and have them waive the fee when it was within 21 days in departing city time zone but not by booking city time zone

UPDATE: AA has removed all close-in fees

I'm trying to book a TAM flight. I found J availability on BA website, but when I called AA to book, I was told only Y is available. Should I HUCA?

6/17 gru-mia 10:55- 18:10 JJ 8094
I just figured it out. the LAN flight is Y. No J available. It didn't show up as mixed cabin.

Data point- not sure if this is public knowledge. I have been back and forth with AA regarding pricing and award ticket- it keeps reverting to a higher amount. Last time I called, I asked if they can possibly pull up my record so I don't need to reexplain the whole issue, and the rep pulled up records of all past past conversations regarding this itinerary.

Something to think about when HUCAing, it might change how you approach the agent...

Of course. When they pull up the pnr, they can see all conversations you had, assuming the rep took notes.
The way around it is to bury the notes you don't want seen with other inane notes.  ;)

Just double checking:

My mother booked a PHL-TLV business class seat using AA miles on USAirways. If she's actually coming from NYC and wants to bring three bags without paying for extra fees, her two (best) options are:

a) pay the $150 change fee to add the NYC-PHL leg.

b) book a separate one-way business Avios ticket for 9k?

No - one way is 13.5k in J. On domestic 2 class flights, J is 3 times Y not 2 times Y.

Oh okay, thanks. Didn't know that.

So then it's $150 or 18k Avios (if she'll book the return in Y). Might be the $ is the better option.

Which sites send alerts if the flight times change at all (to try and talk out of the change fee)? ExpertFlyer?

Are miles debited from account only when reservation status changes to "purchased" or "ticketed"? The status of by booking is still on request and miles haven't yet been debited...
Also, I was told by the agent that it would be ticketed within 2-24 hours. Is has been 36 hours and still not ticketed. There are segments on partner airlines so I know it may take longer, but I assumed that it would just be closer to 24 hours than 2 hours?

You can't book on AA.com with miles other then AA miles,

If this flight is for after the merger then you will be able to do so then.

Anything bookable on AA.com with AA miles is bookable with US Air miles. If you can't do it on US Airs website then call. If you're lucky you might actually get someone on the phone.

is there any way to continue holding a flight if there are currently no more award seats available
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.
