$75 fee:

-21+ days prior to departure is based on the departing city time zone, not the booking city time zone.

EDIT: I managed to call in and have them waive the fee when it was within 21 days in departing city time zone but not by booking city time zone

UPDATE: AA has removed all close-in fees

I want to say it was a Y, but not 100% sure. Is looking at my boarding pass the only way to tell? Or is there another way?
You don't know if you sat in Y (economy) or J (business)?

My bad, thought the letters were referring to the fair rate that I've seen talked about here. I sat in economy.

Anyone familiar with AA J NYC-LAX trends. Seems like there are almost never saver J seats for this route.

J is tougher than F on this route.

Its easier to find when its a few months out.

Thanks.

After flying in F, i think J is very similar and less miles.

I've been looking for a LAX-JFK opening in J from 3 months out, nothing yet. They are getting stingier.

J saver on the route appears at a very small fraction at which F appears.

And, no, I wouldn't count on it opening close-in.

Just view the 7.5K premium as a relatively small amount to get flagship check-in--which is actually wonderful--increased availability, a larger seat, a nominally better service.

2015: 116K bkd | 1.6M brnd | F: OZ,NH,AA,EK | J: UA,CA,TK,DL,TN,AF,VA | LIH,NRT,ROR,PEK,CNS,BOB,MEL,TLV & Pacific Hopper

I guess with my surplus of AA miles, it is not too bad.

Should I just tell them about the infant at check in?

I'm booking online, so i shouldn't book a ticket for the infant, and just tell them at check in?

After booking call it in. Unless u want your infant to have their own seat... That will be full price

Booked US saver business award TLV-PHL-NYC with AA miles (Booked during the availability glitch). My wife is sick  and we will need to push off the flights a day or 2. Problem is there is no saver space only anytime space in business on that route any time soon.

Is there anyway to get AA to open up saver for me on a flight the next day or 2?

I am on phone with agent first call she is saying has to be available in saver and is searching for space for past 20 min with no luck
